South East Qld Football League

ABOUT US

The South East Queensland Football League (SEQ Football) is a Social and Community Football League based throughout Brisbane, Logan and the north of the Gold Coast.  SEQ Football is currently operating on a Friday night during the winter months.

SEQ Football provides a stable base for teams looking to play football with their mates in a social football setting.  While teams can be very skillful and competitive, the predominant “community spirit” of the competition prevails.

The competition is held on a home and away basis across Brisbane and has teams from the Nepalese, Macedonian, Afghan, Somali, Zimbabwean, Rohingyan and Croatian communities, along with local teams competing.

The South East Queensland Football League and its’ counterpart, Queensland Independent Football form the largest Multicultural Football Leagues in Australia.  These competitions are administered under the Over 35s Football and Community Football Australia banner and we work pro-actively in promoting Social and Community Football to teams and players who need assistance is accessing football opportunities.  Our work includes important elements missing from other Leagues and Programs such as helping players / teams:

      • organise themselves into teams / tournaments / competitions;
      • access training space;
      • access training equipment;
      • with low-cost fees;
      • with appropriate kick-off times during religious periods of the year;
      • with Club registration costs;
      • access come and try events;
      • compete in National Community Tournaments;
      • with governance advice;  and,
      • with club development activities.

We have also registered our Teams with the Australia Sports Foundation to access donations to assist them with their registration fees, referee costs, and facility hire.

Donations can be made to individual teams, with the team gaining an immediate benefit, with the knowledge that the local community is behind them in their sporting pursuits.  As the ASF has the “gift deductible recipient” status, donators receive a tax receipt which is fully tax-deductible.

In running competitions such as the South East Queensland Football League and Queensland Independent Football, Community Football Australia can support additional social and community programs such as Welcoming Tournaments, the Multicultural Football League in Logan, Kicking Goals Together at Australia Catholic University and Africa United.

Supporting these programs helps develop new football teams, leaders and players, and build a bridge to established facilities and Clubs.  In some cases we are working with communities to create new Clubs and programs, and re-ignite facility use.  Feel free to visit Community Football Australia for additional information.
